A Look At Older Houses And Charm
Living in an older house has charm and personality that a newer house just can’t compare to. I live in a house that is at least 100 years old (no one knows for sure) and I love it. OK, we’ve had had to do some renovation work to spruce up the interior – including some Richard Burbidge base rails – but it’s still got bags of character.
My house is on a quaint street with sidewalks where children still run and play safely until nightfall. We live within walking distance to schools, parks, the library, and the downtown area with restaurants and shops – sometimes I don’t drive for a week!
My house doesn’t need air conditioning unless it gets really hot – it was built before air conditioning so the windows are made to allow for the best possible breeze to come through. There are beautiful hardwood floors, exposed brick, working fireplace, and 4 stories with 5 bedrooms. I wouldn’t trade my house for a newer house even if I was offered the newer house for free…nothing can compare to the charm and the neighborhood of a house like the one I live in.
